The company's flagship solution, Skitter.TV, is an end-to-end video platform for encoding, managing, streaming and viewing converged Internet TV, video on demand, and live broadcast and satellite TV. Robert D. Saunders | President and Co-founder
Robert (Bob) Saunders is president and co-founder of Skitter, Inc. Skitter.TV is the company’s Internet TV platform, a unified environment for capturing, configuring and delivering merged TV and Web video to TV’s, computers and mobile devices. Saunders has more than 30 years of experience in computing, Internet, telecommunications and multimedia technology. His accomplishments include providing the vision, business development and architectural design for a number of pioneering technologies and successful businesses. Saunders was involved in creating one of the world’s first photo and graphics search technologies; a widely deployed, Unix-based telecommunications platform; and an early TCP/IP platform. He founded one of the nation’s first Internet Service Providers and later one of the first virtual ISP providers serving the telecommunications industry. Over the last decade, he has architected over five different set-top box systems and three generations of video encoding technology.
Kathi Hanley | Chief Operating Officer
Kathi Hanley brings extensive experience in lean manufacturing, human resources, quality assurance and social systems to Skitter, Inc. Prior to joining Skitter, Kathi served as Senior Vice President of Organization Effectiveness for Carpenter Technology Corp. (NYSE:CRS). Kathi had global functional responsibility for Human Resources, Safety, Information Technology, Lean Manufacturing and Asset Protection for this $1.8 Billion company. Her efforts at Carpenter contributed to a 12% reduction of SG&A cost to the corporation as well as a $20 million reduction in inventory.
Prior to joining Carpenter Technology, Kathi founded and ran Strateff Consulting, a firm focused on lean manufacturing, quality operating systems and human resource systems. As a consultant, Kathi was instrumental in the development of a quality effectiveness improvement strategy for Ford Motor Company in 2006. Other clients served from 2000 through 2006 include Calloway Gardens, Gates Group Companies, Atlanta Unity Church, and Lee J Howard Entertainment.
Kathi is also a former Manager of Organizational Development for Toyota Motoring Manufacturing in Georgetown, KY where she was involved in Toyota’s start-up of operations in North America. Among her responsibilities at Toyota from 1988 – 2000 were Quality Control of parts and completed vehicles, Human Resource Development, Organization Development, and Strategic Planning. Kathi was responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of North American manufacturing strategic planning that assured alignment of manufacturing operations to overall global corporate strategies.
Kathi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in social work from the University of Kentucky and an MBA in manufacturing management.
Laura Tanner | Vice President of Marketing
Laura Tanner is a career strategic marketing and marketing communications professional who has managed international marketing organizations for several Software 500 companies. Laura’s corporate and product marketing experience includes corporate and product branding, strategic product launch, competitive analysis and differentiation, and extensive vertical marketing. As a skilled communicator, Laura has hands-on experience in creating and producing programs for every marketing discipline: demand generation, advertising, Website design and development, collateral development, marketing events, public relations and analyst relations.
Laura’s technology experience includes shrink-wrapped, enterprise and SaaS software, network and security technology; application development tools; application integration technology; computer hardware; and technology consulting services. Vertical industry expertise includes telecommunications, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, utilities, logistics, electronics, government, real estate and media.
Prior to joining Skitter in 2009, Laura founded and ran 8 Alarm Marketing, Inc., a full-service marketing consulting and marketing communications agency primarily serving high technology companies. 8 Alarm Marketing provided market research and analysis for corporate and product positioning and messaging
recommendations, creative marketing communications services, social media and Web 2.0 strategies, advertising, direct marketing, search engine optimization and public relations services.
Before founding 8 Alarm Marketing, Laura was vice president of marketing communications for Seagull Software, an international software company offering application development and integration tools focused on legacy application extension and Web services development. Laura had direct responsibility for marketing communications worldwide, managing teams in the U.S., Continental Europe and the United Kingdom. Prior to Seagull Software, Laura managed worldwide marketing communications for Ross Systems, a provider of ERP and financials software for the process manufacturing and healthcare industries, and has also held marketing communications positions at Sterling Software, KnowledgeWare and The Software Link.
Before specializing in high technology marketing, Laura worked in advertising and public relations agencies and was employed as both a print and broadcast journalist. Laura has a degree in journalism from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia, one of the nation’s top journalism programs. Laura's ABJ degree is in Telecommunication Arts (Radio-TV-Film) with a minor in Drama. She has also studied marketing strategies and analysis through the Certificate Program at the Goizueta Business School of Emory University.
