Skitter.TV Acclaim™ Video Encoders
The Skitter.TV entertainment services platform features live video encoders designed and optimized for high-quality, low-bandwidth digital video streams in industry-standard MPEG-4 AVC format. Our Acclaim™ encoders offer advances in video compression that result in superior video quality at a significantly lower cost than most encoding technology. Both variable bit rate (VBR) and constant bit rate (CBR) video streams are supported, as well as Skitter's patent-pending Prioritized VBR™ encoding. Prioritized VBR (PVBR™), allows service providers and entertainment content distributors to take advantage of the reduced bandwidth requirements of VBR video streaming while achieving significant improvements in video quality, more reliable IP delivery and greater control over quality of service.
Prioritized VBR adds rate-shaping features to the Acclaim video encoder that allow an operator to choose the average bitrate of individual VBR streams and to cap the peak bit rate at a hard limit that will not exceed the capacity of ADSL network switches. PVBR also greatly reduces buffering requirements, virtually eliminating interruptions in video stream delivery. In addition, PVBR offers a side benefit for managing network security, preventing bursts in VBR bitrates that can be misidentified as a broadcast storm, causing the network to invoke security measures.
For even greater efficiency and affordability, the Acclaim encoders have a broadcast TV tuner built right in. This unique design streamlines and simplifies signal routing and redundancy while reducing the box count. Both analog off-air and ATSC digital terrestrial inputs are provided. Video is encoded and streamed in real time. All this comes in a compact, one-rack-unit design.
Acclaim Duo™ Dual-Stream HD | SD Video Encoder
Many older computers are not able to stream high definition video effectively. With the Acclaim Duo video encoder, you can generate both HD and SD video streams from a single unit. That means service providers can support multiple streams without multiplying head-end cost and complexity. The Acclaim Duo encodes high definition MPEG-4 video in real time at an average 3.5 Mbps with peaks to 5 Mbps. Standard definition encoding averages 1.4 Mbps with peaks to 1.8 Mbps with both the Acclaim Duo and Acclaim SD encoders.
Acclaim SD™ Video Encoder
For those TV stations (especially low-power TV stations) who are not yet broadcasting in HD, the Acclaim SD video encoder offers a low-cost, high-performance video stream.
